On January 16, 2018, the Taichung City Government held the completion ceremony for the Central Taiwan Film Base Project and it was concluded successfully. Thanks to the hard work of the staff and construction partners, the Central Taiwan Film Base was able to be completed successfully. The Central Taiwan Film Base covers around 3.12 hectares in area and includes facilities such as a artificial wave generation pool, deep-water pool, two indoor huge shooting studios, medium shooting studio, workshop, support service office space, and lodging space for the crews. It will be handed over to and operated by the Central Motion Picture Corporation in Bade in the future. It is expected that three shooting studios will be presented with different styles and the industry-academia collaboration will combine related departments in local colleges and universities. The hope is to become an all-around film-making site that helps develop technical talent in the film industry of Taiwan and with the local economy. The wave generation pool used in the movie “Life of Pi” by Ang Lee will be re-produced on site, as well.
